今天弋果新鮮事要討論的主題是: "Putting Your Foot in Your Mouth”，意思就是「不小心說了不該說的話，或是不恰當的話」。For any listeners that don't get that one, ‘putting your foot in your mouth’ means saying something embarrassing or a bit stupid.

Can used to show your ability (可以，表示能力)	May used to show permission (請求許可)
I can swim. (我可以游泳/ 我有游泳的能力) Can he lift you up? (他可以把你舉起來嗎？/他有能力把你舉起來嗎？)	You may swim in this river. (你可以在這條河裡游泳/我允許你在這條河裡游泳) May I have a biscuit? (我可以有這個餅乾嗎？/可以允許我可有這個餅乾嗎？)
【can】也可以用在要求許可，但是比較不正式。 Can I leave the table? Can I go to the bathroom?
