English Corner 弋果新鮮事

今天弋果新鮮事要討論的主題是: 翻譯上的錯誤。Today’s topic is translation and translation errors. Chinglish is Chinese and English put together in a word, and it’s usually used to refer to the mistakes people make when speaking English but have Chinese as a mother tongue. So for instance when you see the sign that says ‘xiao xin something something’ then it is translated as ‘slip and fall down carefully’ or something like that. 有時在翻譯“小心滑倒”的標示是時,會被翻譯成“請小心的滑下來”,意思就完全錯誤了。You’ve seen them all before on the internet before if you haven’t seen them in Taiwan itself! So today we’ll be discussing the issues revolving around translating like translating numbers, untranslatable words, transliteration, and some of the common problems of translation.

●Here are some topics that we will go over today.

    Untranslatable words 無法翻譯成英文單詞的中文字

    Transliteration 直接用字義來翻譯

    Numbers 數字

    Common problems with translation 常見翻譯問題

    Speech Particles 語法
